Barclay Bold

2012—type design

A geometric bold sans-serif created for legibility on screen and to be used for short headlines and small bodies of text. Barclay Bold is my first foray into type design, it was drawn with a formalized stylistic set for emoticons in an attempt to allow for the expansion of digital language. You can download a copy of Barclay bold here.

Barclay was initially drawn by hand, converted to digital drawings using Robofont and kerned using Metrics Machine.

Barclay was drawn with a stylistic set that transforms a few common emoticon patterns into formalized faces.

The basic glyph set of Barclay contains a full set of upper and lowercase letters, punctuation, and standard ligatures.
